Professional Bowling Career Notes From Indianapolis PTQ
|
No matter what, I bowled with the best,
a 4 year old boy got his dream...finally.
Scores 1638 for 9 games Averaged 182 Low Score-147 High Score-231
|
My Strengths Were: When I got mean, I cleaned Finished even though I could barely move Gave a show for those who watched me Good speed control
|
My Weaknesses were: Lost my focus Ran out of energy (Crohn's) Not sure of what ball to throw Not sure of what line to play Lost my confidence Missed easy spares (4 pin)
|
What I learned
1. I have to find a nutritional supplement that will give me enough energy without making me run to
the toilet (no solid food) since we don't get breaks between games. I was on the verge of
collapse the last game, but still pulled out a 212.
2. I cannot afford to lose my focus...at times it was like I couldn't see my target, or rather could see
it, but couldn't focus on it.
3. When someone makes me angry, I bowl much better. Some people on lanes near us made
some mocking comments about myself and one of those who crossed with me. This served to
put fire in my belly and give me my best game (231).
4. I have to be confident in my ability and my ball reaction. No confidence makes me unsure,
ruining my delivery, making me throw "turds." I can beat these guys, and I just have to KNOW
that I can.
5. Pattern A is different in different bowling centers. I won't go again thinking I know which ball to
throw and which target (line) to play.
6. Rules are NOT enforced uniformly. A more popular bowler (I don't name names) was a few
lanes down and shouted the F-word loud enough for ALL to hear, yet because this guy has a
following, I saw nothing done.
7. What I am doing with the bowling (the inspirational message) may be noble, and may be
incredibly great to the average person, BUT, no one with the "stroke" really gives a crud. I need
attention to spread this message. However, unless there is a way to make money from it, those
in power with various organizations really don't care. To get the attention, I will have to WIN
some of these events. Fine, you bet your non-diseased butt I will. Until then, the money that
trickles in from the "nobodies" like my Ally's Dollar patrons will have to keep me in these
events.
8. Norm Duke is a really nice, decent, humble human being. He posed for pictures with other
fans WITH one of the Sponge Daddy Red Noses on.
9. Danny Wiseman is a good ambassador for bowling, and a class act.
10.I still love this game, no matter how I bowl.
Plan of attack:
I will be bowling on a PBA shot league this summer, to hone my game and competitive edge.
Thanks to Larry Luvisi of Bardstown Bowling Center for running this league. This will give me
experience on the different PBA oil patterns.
Bowl as many REGIONAL events as I can. Before the year is over, cash at least once. Focus on
this alone before striving for the next goal.
Develop a system for remembering my spare shot targets, mnemonic aids. I forgot where to throw
my ball when I was in Indy.
I will stop pursuing exposure for now. Focus on the bowling and this alone.
Thanks to:
Raine, for her support of my dreams.
Jay Love, of Moline, IL, for coming to watch and be my inspiration.
Warrior, for the 15 minute blood pumping speech Tuesday night.
Woodland Bowl for making us feel like royalty.
Extended Stay America for a pleasant hotel stay
Curtis Vincent for talking me into the AMF bowling balls. Glad you did!
