My last day as an accountant, 1989. I was too ill to work
after this. I was about 140 pounds here (I am 6'3").
Crohn's has robbed many of their careers.
Pre-op, 1990. This was before my first
operation. I was about 120 pounds. Please
note burn scars from heating pad on abdomen.
Post op, 1992. This was after operation number 4. I
had about 35 staples here. Raine now jokes they
should have just put in a zipper, since I had 4 more
surgeries after this. (The pout, is of course, a joke.)
The face of Crohn's disease. Please note the eyes. Also
evident here are the red splotches that appear when the
disease is active. So is the look of pain on my face and puffy
cheeks from high doses of prednisone.
Episcleritis, or inflammation of the eyeball, caused by
the rampant anti-bodies that also cause Crohn's.
Taken 5/13/2005. For a time, I could not see with it.
